Returning to College: Is it the right choice for you?
Returning to college as an older adult is an interesting roller coaster ride of emotions, multi-tasking and intimidation. I don’t mean that it is an experience you should avoid, rather no one should go into it assuming that it is going to be an easy transition. So, my blogs are going to focus on is the experiences of being in the position of returning to college; the proverbial good, bad and the ugly. I’ll begin with my first degree from a local community college; then onto my bachelor’s and my current status as a master’s student. I will try to give tips on studying, time management, organization, grading, examination strategies, family issues and interacting with other students who are about twenty years younger than the average older adult returning to college. Hopefully, readers will have the opportunity know that they are not alone in their studies. I love what I do, but I also realize the time, effort and cost to my social and family life. Nevertheless, in the end, I guarantee it is all worth it!
